Health Benefits of Acacia fiber. Is Acacia fiber good for cholesterol?



When it comes to keeping your cholesterol under control, getting enough fiber can have a significant impact.  In particular, fiber, soluble (the type of dietary fiber that dissolves in water and forms a gel in your intestines substance) has found to inhibit the absorption into the bloodstream of cholesterol and reduce LDL (“bad”).






A popular dietary supplement is the acacia fiber that   is often touted as a natural remedy for high cholesterol. They are rich in soluble fiber; this resource is obtained from the sap of a native of some parts of Africa, Pakistan and India tree.  In preliminary animal research, scientists have shown that fiber intake of acacia could lead to reduce cholesterol levels.

Acacia fiber is a type of soluble fiber from tree sap Acacia Senegal, a plant native to parts of Africa, Pakistan and India.  Also known as gum Arabic and gum Arabic, acacia fiber is said to offer a series of health benefits.


Benefits of fiber acacia;

Although very few studies have tested the effects on the health of acacia fiber, there is some evidence that it may offer certain benefits. Here’s a look at some of the main findings of available research.




1) High Cholesterol:

Preliminary studies suggest that Fiber Acacia can help keep cholesterol under control. In a 2009 report published in Food and Chemical Toxicology, for example, researchers analyzed the available research on acacia fiber and found that acacia fiber appears to reduce cholesterol levels in rats.


2) Diabetes:

Fiber Acacia may help protect against certain complications related to diabetes, according to an animal – based study published in Kidney and Blood Pressure Research in 2012. In tests on diabetic mice, the scientists determined that treatment with fiber acacia helped lower blood pressure. Given this finding, the study authors suggest that acacia fiber may help protect people with diabetes from diabetic nephropathy (a type of kidney damage resulting in poor control of diabetes and blood pressure).


3) Liver Health:

Research done with animals indicates that acacia fiber may help protect against liver damage caused by ingestion of paracetamol (a drug used to relieve pain). For example, a 2003 study published in Pharmacology Research found that treatment of mice with acacia fiber before administration of paracetamol has helped protect the liver from the toxic effects of the drug. According to the study authors, acacia fiber can help fight liver damage, reducing oxidative stress.


Uses acacia fiber;

Due to its high content of soluble fiber, Fiber Acacia is thought to help maintain controlled cholesterol levels, keep blood sugar under control and protect against diabetes, and helps in the treatment of digestive disorders (such as bowel syndrome irritable). (One of the two main types of dietary fiber, soluble fiber dissolves in water and forms a gel-like substance in the intestines.)

In addition, acacia fiber is said to help suppress appetite and efforts weight loss, reduces inflammation, relieves constipation and relieves diarrhea.




Alternatives to the fiber of acacia;

In addition, you can increase your intake of soluble fiber by regular consumption of foods such as apples, citrus fruits, carrots, barley, oats and legumes.

Widely available for purchase online, acacia powder is sold in many health food stores and in stores specializing in dietary supplements. Are typically sold in powder form, acacia fiber is also available in tablet and capsule form.

  1. Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found
    a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter
    and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put
    the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it
    pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is
    totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
